Google Trends is a great tool to identify the number of visitors to a particular website. Like for example, if you want to know the traffic to your competitors website, you can easily find it with Google trends.
How?
Just go to Google Trends. Enter the website name and click search. You would immediately see the number of visitors that the site receives and the data is spread over last 3 quarters. Offcourse, you have the option of seeing data for bigger period of time. Just select the time period option from top right corner of screen for the time you want to see the data.
Please note that if you are not able to see the actual NUMBER of visitors for the site, you should log in to your Google account. The 'number of visitors count' feature is only visible to Google's logged in users.
What else? You can even compare the data for different websites together. Just write the names of all the websites that you want to compare in the same search box separated by a comma (,) and click search.

The tool also tells you the related websites which the users had visited along with their geographical location. Using this, you can easily make out that which site is popular in which part of the world.
Click on the country name and the new results will show the visitor division according to the major cities in that country.
