Add List (Index) Of Feed Articles In FeedBurner On Top Of RSS Feed Email

  6. Feb 2011 by Soan

Google Feedburner Logo I have seen that people generally like to have a glimpse of what is contained in the mail before reading the full content. If you have published more than 1 article in a day and you use Google FeedBurner to distribute your blog's content via RSS feed, your users would not be able to see all the articles until they scroll through the full email.

That is why it is always good to have an index or a list of articles at the top of the email. This helps the reader to have a glimpse of all new articles and choose (click) what they want to read without reading through the full email.

List of articles in feedburner email

I was looking around for this solution for one of the blog and found that the option is not talked about directly in FeedBurner control panel. You should follow the following steps to do it:

  1. Log into your Google FeedBurner account. Go to tab 'Publize' and then open your 'Email Subscriptions' from left hand pane.
  2. Now check the check box with label "Change subject when an email has 2 or more items".
  3. Optional: ${n}. Specifying this tag anywhere in the text box given below the checkbox helps you specify the numbers of new articles in the current RSS feed. You can have it or leave it. it is an optional feature. You can also specify any other text that you want to show before or after the number of articles count.
  4. That's it. You are done. Now your RSS feed will always contain the index of items as shown in above picture.
