If you use
Google Adsense program to show ads on your blog/website, then I am sure that you would have seen this message quite often.
Clicking on it to see the sites which have shown your ADS (Ads which contain your publisher ID) shows a list of sites whihc might look something like this:
Here you would see sites like bing.com (Microsoft's search engine), Google.co.in and other country specific Google domains along with
webcache.googleusercontent.com and
translate.googleusercontent.com. What did you do with these sites? Did you authorized them to show your ads or kept them blocked (Unauthorized)?
Why and How are these sites using my publisher ID to show ADS?
The answer is that these sites are showing your ADS without doubt but are actually NOT using your publisher ID. Most of the search engines today cache a copy of your webpage and show a snippet to user while they are searching for information. when these pages are shown, your ADS also appear on those cached pages. Some other services like Google Translate also shows your webpage inside a frame after converting it your the user's desired language. Hence, sites like webcache.googleusercontent.com and translate.googleusercontent.com may be showing your ADS but you won't get any revenue if they are not added to your 'Authorized Sites' list.
Should I Authorize them to show my ADS and avoid revenue loss?
Well, I have kept all of them blocked for quite some time to avoid any violation of Google adsense program's terms and conditions and avoid any malicious activity using my publisher ID.
Also, Google does not have any page which talks explicitly about any violations which can happen if we authorize these websites (like bing.com, google.co.in, webcache.googleusercontent.com, translate.googleusercontent.com etc to authorized sites list.
As per Google's policies, if they identify any authorized website which uses your publisher code to display ADS to be involved in invalid clicks, they can terminate your publisher account. But if you trust a particular web page/website which would not intentionally violate the policies, it is good to allow the website to show your ADS and earn revenue.
If you look at the list carefully, most of the sites are Google domains which normally would show a webpage in a cached view or language translated view and these sites do carry a credibility of being the most respected and biggest companies of the software world. Hence, I would say it is safe to add these websites to our "Authorized Sites" list. But do NOT add any unknown site as it may actually lead to malicious attacks and eventually cancellation of your account.
Just click 'authorize' link against the site which you want to add and click 'Save' button.
I have just added them. You can also do it to make more money!!
