This 2 minute video teaches Laptop Ergonomics and provides useful basic tips for adults or Child for laptop use at Home, Work or School. The video does not have audio but still teaches you everything in an impressive manner.
For your convenience, I have written down all the messages that this video is trying to highlight:
- If you use your laptop on the couch:
- Sit straight and preferably use a laptop board/pad for better positioning of laptop on your lap.
- Try to have your back straight and supported on a cushion.
- To relieve muscle tension in the neck:
- Use a chair that allows you to have your back straight at 90 degrees with respect to your elbow.
- Relax your neck and keep it aligned with your back.
- Place the top of the screen at eye level. This is same rule as doctors say for watching television.
- To relieve muscle tension in arms:
- Use a separate keyboard and mouse. i.e If you use Laptop, you should prefer using a separate keyboard and mouse to help your hand muscles make different movements.
- Keep arms and forearms at 90 degrees.
- To relieve stress at eyes:
- Make sure you don't have any reflections on the computer screen. Sometimes you may see a tube light or a sunlight reflection from an open window. Reflections and glares are bad for your eyes. Avoid them by using window blind or curtain.
- Blink frequently to keep the eyes hydrated. i.e. When you stare at laptop/computer screen for longer duration, the fluid in your eyes dries up. Blinking your your frequently will help them regain the moisture.
- 30-30 rule
- As a general rule, it is good to maintain a good balance between work and other activities. As a recommendation, if you use laptop/computer for 30 mminutes, you should involve your body in other activities also for 30 minutes. For example, any activity which helps you flex your other body muscles like cycling, playing outdoor games or anything else you like to do.
- This rule is very important for people who spend about 8-10 hours working on computers daily. They should do daily exercises to avoid any problems in long run.
