Interactive Pre-School Learning Online For Kids

  4. Aug 2011 by Soan

I have a small kid (presently 8 months old) and a niece (3 years old). they both are too fond of my laptop and keep it in their custody whenever they find it!!

Till now, I was just showing them videos of cartoon or dinosaurs on YouTube.com and the thought of online pre-school learning never hit my mind. But, someone just asked me to let them learn something new while they are playing with the laptop an hence I found these useful sites.

It is pretty obvious that unless you have the need for something, you won;t find the relevant information for the subject. This is true in my case too.
Current generation of children does not like the conventional methods of learning too. Have you ever given a thought to what your child does to those age old toys? At least in my case, my son does not even gives them a look. He straightaway heads to my laptop or the mobile for his play.

Here are some of the sites which i found useful for online pre-school learnings:

  1. Kindersay online pre- school learning: This is one of the best and FREE website for pre- school learning. It offers videos for learning alphabets, words, signs etc. along with photographs. The photographs shown in videos are quite large for easy identification by your child.

    Kindersay
  2. UptoTen.com: This is a partial FREE content site and offers almost the same facilities as Kindersay. They also offer child games based on certain themes like doing some 'creative activity' or 'dressing up'. they promote the concept of learning while playing.

    UotoTen

They also have content for children who are not pre-scholl candidates upto 10 years of age.
  3. BBC list of Pre-School Learning Sites: I found the above two sites useful for my modest needs. If you feel that they are not enough and you need more options, then you can have a look at the pre-school online learning schools collated by BBC UK here.

Benefits of Online Pre-School Learning

  1. Tution Cost: You definitely save on tution cost wehn your child learns those alphabets and nursery rhymes online. You can certainly make them listen to the videos available online which helps them grasp the concept much faster.
  2. Learn while play: All children are fond of playing with electronic gadgets. Why not use them to imaprt them knowledge too? This is something like hitting two targets with one arrow. Let them play with your laptop and learn at the same time.
Keep them busy!!
