Yebhi.com Is Now Sending Promotional SMS From Different Numbers To Avoid Penalty

  21. Nov 2011 by Soan

Yebhi.com is an online shopping mall and has been in news recently for its aggressive marketing in India.

I have been one of the victim who is suffering from their continuous and unwanted promotonal codes twice a day!! The Indian government's decision of barring all promotional SMS and calls recently gave a breather and i did see a substantial drop in the number of calls and SMS as i registered for 'FULLY Blocked' category.

But, people in India do not STOP here. They have all the Jugaad's (tricks) to bypass government laws.
To be specific, I have again started receving promotional SMS from Yebhi.com but now from different phone numbers everyday. Here are some of the snapshots of the Yebhi.com SMS all sent from different mobile numbers:

I simply can't understand the use of making laws which can't be enforced strictly.

I am now only left with the option of making a complaint for them. But how many of those? I am receiving another 100 SMS/calls from other small DSA (Direct selling Agents) of multinational banks to take loans and others to buy slimming pills. How many complaints can i log?

I am sure I am not the only one who is facing this problem and we can't do anything about it. Changing the mobile number also does not help. And yes, it is not necessary that you subscribe to their service and then you start getting these SPAM SMSs and calls. Even if any of your friend or relative tries to send an SMS to you when trying to save money by using FREE SMS sending service, you are bound to get into the trap of these marketing companies.

For your information, you only need to send an SMS to activate or de-activate this free service:

For customers who would like to register/de-register their request for NDNC registry should dial 1909 or SMS to 1909 with keywords 'START DND' for registration and 'STOP DND' for de-registration.

If you had registered for the ultimate failure 'Do Not Call' database earlier, this service would have been automatically activated for you as in my case.

My advice to these online shopping sites would be to hire a good marketing official who understands that frustating the customers is not going to get you results in long run. Please leave aside people who do NOT want to hear from you everyday and that too twice a day!!

Are you also facing the same issue with Yebhi.com?
