Adjustment of Status Processing time

Green card adjustment of status form i485 processing time is updated daily using the official USCIS processing times and data shared by real applicants in various forums and trackers online.

Travelling while i485 application is pending is not recommended if you do not have any other valid visa to re-enter USA.

I-485 Concurrent Filing with I-130

Form I-485 is also the next step in the family-based green card process after submitting Form I-130 (Petition for Alien Relative). If the sponsored husband or wife is present in the United States, you can file I-130 and I-485 together as “concurrent” application.

Case Outside Normal Processing Time

If your ‘case received date’ is before the date (worst case) mentioned above, you should raise a service request with USCIS to check why your case has been delayed. This could mean your case is taking longer than other similar cases and may be stuck in administrative processing.

The data that our page shows is the fastest approval that someone got. It does not mean that all cases before that date have been approved.

    Hi Anil,
My lawyer filed our I-485 (Approved T Visa) in July 2018 and our notice date was July 27, 2018. We have not submitted our medical exam documents yet since the lawyer said that we should wait for an RFE. When do you think will USCIS acy on our application? Thank you very much.

    Respectfully yours,

It’s in Vermont service center. Received date is 7/10/2018 and notice date was 7/13/2018. I have read your recent posting in Vermont service Center where approval is dated July 27, 2019 but mine has not changed at all and its been 11 months already. I didn’t even receive an EAD or an RFE. Thank you for your reply.

i485 application can only be approved if your priority date is current in USCIS visa bulletin.
You have not shared anything about your application type. Employment based or family or what?

I cannot really say anything until I know the details.

    Hey Anil,

This is Bruce. We had a chat few months ago on my EAD time frame.
I received my card few days ago (i.e. last week of May 2019). Receipt Date was Nov 01, 2018. (if this helps your status/timeline tracking and graphs).

    Quick questions
I’m stay in California, and fingerprinting happened in Oakland. Guessing Californian service center was over loaded hence EAD processing was outsourced to National Benefits Center (MSC).

Q #1: Now here will my AOS (i-485) application be addressed?
Q #2: How far out do you think i am in the process of getting the green card? AOS was application submitted in Nov 2018 and my I-140 priority date is Jul 2017.

    Appreciate you help!

      Congratulations for your i485 EAD.

If your i485 has not been transferred to another center, then it should be processed at same center as it is pending at.

I485 green card is issued based on the current visa bulletin. Assuming your country’s date is current, you can expect to get a green card within a year of filing.

    Hi Anil,
My case is at Nebrasca center, based on grant of asylum more than 1 year ago.
    I-485 application received on 6/29/2018
    Fingerprint done on 4/15/2019
The online status still showing “fingerprint fee received”

Is that normal? Does the online status updated on time and accuratly? I’m afraid there’s something wrong with my case because it seems like i waited a very long time to receive the fingerprint request…I saw people usually receive fingerprint request only a few months after received the application receipt.

There is nothing wrong with your case. It is possible that USCIS website is not showing the most current status. It happens with many people.

    hi Anil,
I had a speed traffic ticket few years before and that was contested and dismissed by my lawyer.
I filed i485 last month and did not include anything related to this ticket.

    1) Is there any issue for adjustment?
    2) Does this ticket come up in the background check?

If the ticket was dismissed, then it should not show up in the records.
