Australia SkillSelect EOI Sample for 189, 190, 489 PR
Sample Australia SkillSelect EOI step by step procedure for 189, 190. Update Expression of Interest anytime after submission to update points for next draw.

What is Australia SkillSelect EOI
An expression of interest (EOI) is an application method of showing your interest in applying for a skilled visa for immigrating to Australia.
EOI is an online application form that needs to be filled by applicant using an Australian government website commonly called as SkillSelect.
You select the visa type and submit your family, education, employment details and wait for the invitation to finally apply for visa.
SkillSelect analyzes your eligibility to meet the points test for certain visas like 189, 190 and 489.
Documents Required for Australia EOI
You need these mandatory documents to create and submit EOI for the first time:
- Education and Work Experience Assessment
- English-Language Test Report
Other PR documents like Police clearance reports can be arranged later after filing EOI.
Sample Australia SkillSelect EOI – Step by Step Process
Open file in New Window >
You can select all 189 and 190 PR option in same EOI. There is no need to file separate 190 EOI in state website.
Once you select 190, system gives you option to select the specific state. At this time, you can only select either one state or all. There is no option of selecting multiple states in SkillSelect.
Example:
If you are only interested in NSW (New south wales), then you can select only NSW. All other states will not even look at your EOI for invitation.
If you select all states, your profile and points will be visible to all Australia states and they can invite you.
Note that 190 visa has the condition of staying for at-least 2 years in the state after getting PR.
States do not follow any monthly process of sending invites. State sends a pre-invite anytime they want.
States usually send invite to people with highest points in their ANZSCO code. It is also important to get the highest English language score to improve your chances for 190 visa invite.
State’s pre-invite is not same as 190 visa invite.
Once a state sends an invite, you may have to pay a nomination evaluation fees. As an example, NSW charges AUD $300 to evaluate your documents and then nominate you for 190 visa.
Ore-invite by state does not guarantee a 190 invite.
Victoria is notorious to reject high number of pre-invited applications after evaluating the candidate documents. NSW is more reliable and has high percentage of nomination approval if your documentary proof is reliable.
189 invites are sent monthly at this time on 10th midnight after the automated computer draw.
190 invite is followed by the state’s approval of your nomination after the pre-invite.
Your EOI can only get 1 invite at a time.
If you have received 190 invite, your EOI is taken off the 189 visa pool and will not be considered for the next draw if you have accepted the 190 invite.
You can create separate EOI for each state.
This will help if some states like Queens land prefer candidates who have only selected Queensland as their only choice in EOI.
SkillSelect system allows you to create as many EOIs as you want.
People usually create one EOI for 189 visa and then separate ones for each state they are interested to live in.
Filing multiple EOIs allows you to have other EOI available for selection even when one of them has received an invite.
EOI date of effect will change if your total points change.
Examples
#1. If you have improved your English Language score and now updated EOI to get more points.
#2. You left your current employment date empty, the EOI updates automatically to add more work experience points.
#3. If your age reaches next point slab, the EOI will update itself to reduce your points.
ACS assessment is required to file EOI. You will need to fill the assessment report number in your skillselect expression of interest application.
You can change the report number later but if you get an invite with wrong report number, your application might be rejected.
English test result report number is required for filing Australia PR EOI.

Hi, I have filed an EOI for software engineer 2613 with 80 points effective 03-May-2019. Looks like I didn’t get invited in May round. Can I expect by next month or should I explore 190 option as well.
Point break up: 20 English, rest experience and spouse points.

Hi @turboracer
Sorry to say but there is very low chance of invite for 261111 with 65 points at this time. I suggest to increase your points to at-least 75 to have any realistic change of invitation.

@Anil.Gupta he is European Citizen and he also holds British passport
anil_am22
Hi @turboracer
It does not make any difference to the total points if he is European or British citizen. The points are required to get an invitation.

That means i have updated my EOI at 22nd April 2019. Then the date of effect must match with this date. Is that so ?
