What is Australia SkillSelect EOI

An expression of interest (EOI) is an application method of showing your interest in applying for a skilled visa for immigrating to Australia.

EOI is an online application form that needs to be filled by applicant using an Australian government website commonly called as SkillSelect .
You select the visa type and submit your family, education, employment details and wait for the invitation to finally apply for visa.

SkillSelect analyzes your eligibility to meet the points test for certain visas like 189, 190 and 489.

Documents Required for Australia EOI

You need these mandatory documents to create and submit EOI for the first time:

  1. Education and Work Experience Assessment
  2. SHORTCODE ERROR: ThirstyAffiliates did not detect a valid link id, please check your short code! Test Report

Other PR documents like Police clearance reports can be arranged later after filing EOI.

Sample Australia SkillSelect EOI – Step by Step Process

Do I need to File 190 PR EOI Separately?

You can select all 189 and 190 PR option in same EOI. There is no need to file separate 190 EOI in state website.

Once you select 190, system gives you option to select the specific state. At this time, you can only select either one state or all. There is no option of selecting multiple states in SkillSelect.

Example:

If you are only interested in NSW (New south wales), then you can select only NSW. All other states will not even look at your EOI for invitation.

If you select all states, your profile and points will be visible to all Australia states and they can invite you.

Note that 190 visa has the condition of staying for at-least 2 years in the state after getting PR.

State Pre-Invite

States do not follow any monthly process of sending invites. 190 invite, which is normally called a pre-invite can be sent anytime.

States usually send invite to people with highest points in their ANZSCO code. It is also important to get the highest SHORTCODE ERROR: ThirstyAffiliates did not detect a valid link id, please check your short code! score to improve your chances for 190 visa invite.

Is Pre-Invite Same as 190 Invite?

State’s pre-invite is not same as 190 visa invite.

Once a state sends an invite, you may have to pay a nomination evaluation fees. As an example, NSW charges AUD $300 to evaluate your documents and then nominate you for 190 visa.

Ore-invite by state does not guarantee a 190 invite.

Victoria is notorious to reject high number of pre-invited applications after evaluating the candidate documents. NSW is more reliable and has high percentage of nomination approval if your documentary proof is reliable.

189 and 190 Visa Invite

189 invites are sent monthly at this time on 10th midnight after the automated computer draw.

190 invite is followed by the state’s approval of your nomination after the pre-invite.

Your EOI can only get 1 invite at a time.

If you have received 190 invite, your EOI is taken off the 189 visa pool and will not be considered for the next draw if you have accepted the 190 invite.

Create separate EOI for each State

SkillSelect system allows you to create as many EOIs as you want.

People usually create one EOI for 189 visa and then separate ones for each state they are interested to live in.

Filing multiple EOIs allows you to have other EOI available for selection even when one of them has received an invite.

EOI Date of Effect Change

EOI date of effect changes if your points change.

Examples

  • If you have improved your English Language score and now updated EOI to get more points.
  • You left your current employment date empty, the EOI updates automatically to add more work experience points.
  • If your age reaches next point slab, the EOI will update itself to reduce your points.

Is ACS assessment Required for filing EOI?

ACS assessment is required before you file your EOI. You need the English language test score report to submit your EOI.

You have good chance of invite in either June or July 2019 draw for 2613 with 80 points. All the best.

The invite depends on your specific ANZSCO code. Which job are your filing for?

The invite does not vary by the assessment agency i.e. VETASSESS or ACS.

Your education and work experience has to be assessed by an assessment agency and if they give positive report, then you can claim those points.
Find your assessment agency for your ANZSCO code here.

My assessment has no issue with my occupation it is valid and relevant. I just want to know point on my highest education to submit EOI moreover, I read that it is not necessary to have highest education according to TRA requirement such as a person having assessment as a chef and having Bachelor degree in IT so he can claim bachelor point. sir what do you say ?

My MSA outcome clearly declare my work experience to claim point but MSA outcome does not mention my educational equivalency. On behalf of TRA positive assessment can I claim 10 point in education?

I thought of doing one year course in university of new England. Will that fetch me 5 points towards my PR? I am a computer student with 5 +experience in IT. Or is it compulsory to complete to have 2 years of study?

The course should be a degree course to give you any substantial benefit in points.

I’ve heard that it hurts your chances to get an invite if you select “any state” on your EOI. Is this true? I chose any state b/c I thought it would actually help my chances, but now I’m not so sure.

    Hello,

My occupation list is currently not listed in those list (Payroll Analyst), as this is not in the list, what are other ways to immigrate to Australia ?

    • Anil Gupta
Anil Gupta 16 Mar, 19 at 4:54 am

The skilled based Australia Permanent residency is available only for the occupation codes issued by immigration at this time.

The other way is to get a job from Australia employer and then get a sponsored work visa. Once you are in Australia, you get more options.

Invite is difficult for 189 with 65 points. You should try to increase your points to 70.
You may get 190 visa invite if NSW has any demand for your job but its not guaranteed.

    Hey Anil,
What is the usual response time of EOI invitation for Subclass 489 Provisional with 65 scored points? Application was applied in July 2018? May I know the rejection of application to plan alternatives?

Anil Gupta 20 Mar, 19 at 2:59 pm

The chances are very low for an invite with 65 points at this time. My suggestion is to try and increase your points to at-least 70.

    Kim 14 Mar, 19 at 12:25 am

    Hey Anil,
If I have 70 points for the 190 and 75 for the 489, what are the chances of getting an invite for job code 311299? I can’t really find much online about this job code. EOI was submitted March 2019.

    • Anil Gupta
Anil Gupta 14 Mar, 19 at 7:57 am

You can expect 190 PR invite for 311299 ANZSCO code within 2-3 months with 70 points if the state you have chosen has demand for your job profile.

You can choose “any state” and that will open up your profile for all available states. You can try it.
